stadium drift practise

July 14th, 2007 by wrxloonie

Oops i did it again.

i have totally mutilated a perfectly clean car park lot with my tire marks.

but it’s all worth it because i think i did my first figure of 8 using weight transition, no e braking. the feeling is unfamiliar. i would have continued if it was not because of my tires giving up.  Kenny Yap and friends came to watch. Even Roland rode with me.  Finding 2 cones at the parking lot is just too convenient.  It’s as if people WANT me to practice there.

it’s almost a year since my first donuts. for many, this kind of progress is antagonizing.  But I’m pretty contended. taking into account that there are no tracks in brunei and my little project is completely self funded and almost self taught.  of course credit goes out to all those who helped in either by using emails, chats, voice or simply just using the "force".

ok. more updates later

me on tv?

September 3rd, 2006 by wrxloonie

today i have a surprise visitor. that’s pei from thailand, from a long long ago.  she is here for an official assignment. what was suppose to be a simple lunch turned out to be a tv interview. pei came to singapore with her crew and was doing a programme on airports of asia.  they needed some opinions from the "man on the street" and i happen to be the man on the street.  it was an interesting one minute interview and it was fun.

well, it’s good to deviate from cars once in a while. oh, speaking of cars, my power fc sold. phew. some dough coming in.

drift in darussalam

August 31st, 2006 by wrxloonie

today is my last nite in brunei before going back to singapore.  i put in fresh tires, pump up the gas and determined to finish my clutch or at least one set of tires tonight.

rain.  the gods are smiling at me.

had dinner with bobi at ahan thai. chick chop and fried squid. 10 bucks per person. then off to hang out at hayashi SKH.  then it’s home to check mails before heading for movie (snakes) at 11.35pm

the movie was not bad. i kinda like it. but roland think it sucks.  after the movie, the rest of my body is yearning for some lateral Gs.  so off to my car and….gasp. disaster! i left my lights on.

not a good sign.

fortunately, bobi came and save the day with his jumper cables and conveniently mounted battery.  after a few tries, i got it started. is this another sign, not to go practise today? oh well, off to a tea first.

after the tea, it’s JP time.  reached destination in about 20 mins of windy and cool drive (but the dampers was not helping at all).  got the cone down and started my engines…VRoooommmm.

it was only after a few rounds of Vroom, the guard came out and shoo me away. what? this is the first time! damn, we are power in numbers. go alone and i get victimised!

shit, end of drift practise. looks like i have to find greener pastures elsewhere when i come back in sept!!

tonite, there is no rain. bad.

worn out my tires in …what… 10 mins? wow, 80 bucks in 10 mins. damn! and that’s not including all the clutch. oh well, no one said drifting is cheap. ha ha ha

any improvements? no, i’m still like a oversized washing machine. to makes things worse, my car is white (washing machine colour).  the most exciting part of the evening is the end.  louis, god bless his soul, ran thru my tires after my second session and alert me that my steel belts are showing thru the tires. end game.  and here comes the time bomb. over at the other tires, came a hissing sound! OMG!  the tires wore thru! so i had to speed back to base before the tires flat out…from JP to hayashi. did i make it? barely.  just as i was parking, the tires gave up. phew….

well it’s back to the tire shop again tomorrow. damn, i better find a sponsor soon!

ok, time to sleep. let me drift into my dreams.

ever wondered how laundry left like in a washing machine?  well, i felt just like that today.  was going round and round in circles. just can’t seem to steady the nose in one direction. damn! after a few rounds of pusing lagi, i was ready to blow chucks!

oh, and just before i started, 3 police bikers decided to drop by. they asked me some questions, i smoked them a little and i was let off. phew. close call. and it back to donuts.

ok, i must get my donuts right before i move on to anything. now it’s still on "spin dry". hope the rain keeps up. i love the rain! i could even drift with a messed up clutch!

ok more tomorrow (maybe going for the tutong show)

2am in the morning. the rain has stopped. my SX is parked downstairs with 3/4 tank of gas and there is some energy left in me. so what shall we do?

DORIFTO !

almost 20 mins of non-stop sliding mayhem, watched over by the silvia king and lekz.  left donuts right donuts, goreng pisang and other unidentifiable maneuvers that was created partly due to the hopeless self taught drifting and the pitch dark environment. how am i suppose to know where i am going when i cannot even tell my left from my right? haha

well, the drift outing would be complete except for a certain yellow silvia who said will turn up, did not.  remembers: slackers don’t go far.

in my case, i won’t go far either. actually i won’t be going anywhere….cuz my clutch is but a thin sheet of metal!!!

4am in the morning, drifting into sleep,
